Ingredients

  • 2 cups Hathi Brand 100% Whole Wheat Chakki Atta
  • 1 cup grated lauki (bottle gourd)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder (optional)
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1 tbsp yogurt (for extra softness)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil (for the dough)
  • Oil or ghee for cooking.

Method

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine Hathi Brand 100% Whole Wheat Chakki Atta, grated lauki, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, green chili, chopped coriander, yogurt, salt, and 2 tbsp oil.
  • Mix well until ingredients are evenly incorporated. Gradually add a little water, kneading to form a soft, smooth dough.
  • Divide the dough into equal portions, rolling each into a small ball.
  • Roll out each ball into a thin round (like a chapati), dusting with flour if needed to prevent sticking.
  • Heat a tawa or skillet on medium heat. Place a thepla on the hot tawa, cooking for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Drizzle a little oil or ghee on each side and cook until both sides are lightly crisp.
  • Repeat for the remaining dough.
  • Enjoy these warm, savory lauki theplas with chutney or yogurt. Perfect for adding a cozy, homemade touch to your winter meals.
